Crazypants Update of DOOM.

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 18, 2009, 12:22 PM

I haven't updated since April. A lot has gone on!!
. Australia trip (I'll post photos one day, I swear)..
. Breakup. Awesome friends. Realizing what "Happy" really is.
. A sad attempt at selling stuff at Con-Version. Ah well. ;) Next year!!
. I got a kitten to "fill the gaping hole in my heart" - the hole really wasn't that big, but I found the seriously Best Kitten Ever. Her name is Mi-Go and there will be pics soon. She's a gorgeous floofy tabby girl and we're all pretty sure she's at least half Maine Coon. Sweetest kitten ever, loves cuddles, but will also eat my homework. Seriously. Yes. XD
. Finding new boy, who is *amazing*. Love him! <3
. Start of Third Year, which fully kicked my ass. u_u JWLM is NOT pain free.
. Speaking of, I hurt myself pretty much every day. I drilled into my thumb a few times, sliced myself open repeatedly... ahem. XD
. Amazing friends and boy kept me sane.
. Was a model in Tracy's Wearable Art class pieces, which meant walking up and down fifty billion stairs, 500+ people seeing me, and more stuff to add to my CV. ;) Was so neat!
. H1N1 or whatever it was kicked my ass for two weeks, so I'm finishing school work over break and in January. x_x UGH!
. Learned a LOT and loved it all, just wish it wasn't so jam-packed!
. Took the Cloth Dyeing and Painting class. LOVE. I adore rust/rot dyeing, and painting was pretty fun. Loved the natural stuff - especially Tumeric! :D
(Again, I'll post photos eventually!)
. Took up sewing. Not a lot, but I'm making my Yule dress...
. Learned that Video Games + Pizza = Best Date Night Ever. ;) Apparently I'm the perfect girl... Gimme zombies or aliens to shoot and I'm happy! (Left 4 Dead, and Gears of War. Lalala. We're getting L4D2 after xmas!)

So, lots of busy. I spent 12+ hours a day at the school for the first half of the semester, until I got sick. Long, long days. I managed more socializing than I have in ages, which has been wonderful. My boy has hosted a number of gatherings for my friends or a few of his friends (as most of his are insanely busy), all my buds love him and it's mutual. SO NICE. :D

I'm hoping that I can actually have a bit of a break this holiday, but I'm making a ton of presents and finishing my school work - so we'll see. ;) In any case, I also hope to update my website... and dA of course! Ugh. I need a Time Turner plz?

Will definitely be updating soon with actual art *gasp!* but figured I may as well send out a note that yes, I'm alive, and no, I've not abandoned art or dA.

Also:
. Thank you to all who +fav my stuff! I'm sorry that I'm too busy and/or lazy to reply, but it really means a lot to me. :D
. Thank YOU to all those who I +fav, I love finding work that speaks to me and inspires me, so it definitely means a lot to me that you've posted it here. :)

Much love, deviant Artists!! Happy holidays, may all your wishes come true. :)

Go to urban dictionary ([link]) and type in the answers to your question and then pick either the first or favorite definition that urban dictionary comes up with.

1.) Your name? Lacy
verb: to lacy (someone): To thrash one's opponent severely, displaying great technical skill and control for a prolonged period
yeah, I love it. haha.

2.) Your age? 26
A lot of booze. 750ml of alcohol. Pronounced "two-six" NOT twenty-six
heh. the other definitions include gangs - wtf?

3.) One of your friends? Tracy
1.) The unisex name Tracy \t-ra-cy\ is pronounced TRAY-see. It is of Irish Gaelic origin, one meaning is warlike. Another originating as a nickname for Theresa "late summer"
cute! :)

2.) A term referring to one who has many contradicting qualities, characteristics or traits usually in an EITHER/OR basis ie; Nice, cruel, Stubborn, Compliant, Sparkly, Dark, Social, isolated, Wishful, hopeless, innocent, sinful, naieve, cunning, proud, ashamed, determined, indifferent, generous, glutton, giving, selfish, trustworthy, dishonest, good, evil etc
I think this is a really interesting idea!

4.) What should you be doing? Painting
Verb: The act of applying color (usually paint by the use of a brush) over the canvas.

"Painting" the new code name for masturbation for both men and women.
hehehe.

5.) Favorite color? Orange
The colour which vain assholes turn after a session in the tanning salon; Often confused with Hepatitis.
bahahahaha.

6.) Birthplace? Calgary
An awesome city with some great people, and some assholes. Yes, there are sluts here, but there are sluts anywhere else too. Interesting people. And 17th Ave is pretty fun, as is downtown and Mission. Should be the capital of Alberta.

A pretentious city with delusions of grandeur and penis envy (Toronto's dick is way bigger). I equate Calgary to the farmboy redneck who just won the lottery and bought himself a new car, new clothes and a fancy house. You may look good, you may have money, but Calgary you still have no class or sophistication, because deep down you are still a redneck.

n. Etymologists are divided over whether it derives from the Latin word, calgarus, meaning "crass," or a blackfoot word, calgaree, meaning, "strange race in cowboy boots who guzzle thick black liquid from the ground ." In current colloquial usage it is slang for "second-best."

7.) Month of your birth? October
the birthstone for this month is Opal, but there is also a cheaper Rose Zicron.
and it's also the best month ever if your birthday is in it
the next person who gives me a fucking pink cz for birthday is gonna get it shoved somewhere uncomfortable. hehe.

October, the 10th, and obviously the best month of the year, and is so for several reasons.
1. OKTOBERFEST
2. Birthstone is Opal
3. Zodiac signs Libra and Scorpio
4. Most likely conceived between Christmas and Valentines Day (giggity).
hahahaha.

8.) Last person you talked to? Dean
Used to describe someone really cool or high up on a social chain. These people are very powerful so must be respected.
does this come from the whole Dean of the School thing? o_o

To hit someone in the face; often a small child with a basketball

A friend of yours who thinks he's superior to everyone, but has many inadequacies.

9.) One of your nicknames? LJ
lj often stands for loljob,
you give somebody a loljob by loling and giving them a job. It may also refer to the art of raping eggs.

To fall off or over an object, usual under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. In the manner of Lisa Jackson.

The act of oral sex on a women.

So, again I'm neglecting ol dA - my apologies, peeps.

I've been sick a LOT this year, so it's been a little hard keeping up in school, much less taking pretty pictures of my stuff for y'all.

That being said, I should mention that tonight was my first jewelry show at school:

Metalmorphosis: Fauna Obscura.

I thought it was just a show in addition to a competition, but it was a competition. Everyone who came voted on their top 3 pieces, then they were tallied.

I won second place.
Yeah.
So.

How's that for awesome? I didn't know it was a competition until there was voting. I finished my pieces (shell guys, you'll see them as soon as I take a pic that doesn't suck) - four of them. They're awesome. And I'm totally stoked.

I haven't really been keeping up with dA since school started this year, and I apologize for that. It's been a really busy year for me - five courses the first semester (which was just way too stressful), living way farther from school and friends than I did last year, and family issues (Grama has Alzheimers and we've been alternating care between us (me and mom), and my aunt, trying to get her into a home, and trying to get her a nurse until then)...

I remain a solid B-ish average studio student. Glee. And I actually passed all my courses! Go me! I'm glad, if I had to retake the stupid first year course again, I'd probably end up dropping out of ACAD altogether.

This semester has been great. I've got Art History: Modernism, Metalsmithing Skills II, Jewelry: Media Skills, and Silkscreening (Print, not cloth).
∞ I'm not a big fan of History, but trying to keep interested. My instructor is an adorable woman of unknown (to me) European background, with a lovely voice and gorgeous accent that is unfortunately quite easy to fall asleep to.
∞ Metalsmithing is with Charles Lewton-Brain, who I highly recommend looking up - he's a pretty big deal in the Jewelry/Metals world, has published books (on Fold Forming, which is TOTALLY COOL, btw), and maintains a huge free resource site, ganoksin.com. He's nice, and positive, and generally awesome. Metalsmithing focuses on advancing metal skills in larger scales than most jewelry - our first project is a vessel that is a minimum 4". My profile pic shows the model for my piece, though I've doubled the pattern for the actual metal.
∞ Media Skills is pretty cool. Dee Fontans (check her out, peeps!) is the instructor, she was Tracy's teacher in first year Jewelry, and she's big on wearable art and doing crazy stuff, such as this hip hop dance based on jewelry. Glee.
∞ Silkscreening is interesting and very fun. The instructor, Heather Huston, is a happy, perky, cute lady. She's really nice, and I'm totally digging her class! :) I have lots of plans and ideas. :)

I'll try to update more often with some art.. I should be documenting it often now.

where does the time go?

Update? Orly?

Things have been super busy!! Five courses are too many, but for the most part I'm enjoying the school life. Jewelry is going supremely awesomely, I am loving almost every minute of it.

Design and Presentation is a little less enjoyable, simply for the fact that it seems to be geared toward mass production and I'm not really interested in that.

I'll be posting some new stuff at some point, when I get a chance. I'm not doing much to post about quite yet.

As always, my livejournal is updated much more frequently, at my etsy has some stuff on it.
